An exhilarating sophomore statement blending London jazz lineage with fluid, tumbling lyricism, empathetic ensemble grooves, and soaring compositional depth.

London-based pianist and composer Finn Carter is a rising presence within the capital’s genre-defying contemporary jazz scene, appearing at iconic institutions like Ronnie Scott’s and The Vortex. Seamlessly straddling the worlds of jazz and modern pop, Carter has collaborated with celebrated UK artists such as Loyle Carner, Olivia Dean, and Rex Orange County, all while refining his own distinctive voice as a bandleader. Drawing inspiration from heavyweights like Alice Coltrane, Andrew Hill, Jason Moran, Ambrose Akinmusire, and Donny Hathaway, Carter crafts adventurous, deeply communicative music that balances technical complexity with a direct, soul-stirring emotional resonance.

On his sophomore album Finding Home, Finn Carter presents his most complete and expressive work to date. Captured with an intimate, live-feel warmth at Temple Music Studio, the album feels less like a series of isolated tracks and more like a continuous, interactive conversation. Carter’s piano style is instantly recognizable - tumbling, lyrical, and rich with gospel-infused cascades and pensive melodicism. He leads an exceptional ensemble featuring tenor saxophonist Kaidi Akinnibi, bassist Joe MacLaren, drummer Blake Cascoe, and guest trumpeter Christos Stylianides, all playing with a shared, sympathetic intuition. From the meditative opening of "Will Trust" to the joyous swing of "Rejoicing You" and the explosive, high-wire interplay of "Clear Your Mind (If You Can)" and "When the Gates Open," Finding Home heralds the arrival of a new major force in contemporary London jazz.
